Mum‘‘BYE" to Pune ..!!!

     Whether rains o' storms, whether blasts or floods…u can’t take away d spirit of Mumbai frm a Mumbaikar…after all ‘Yeh hai Mumbai meri jaan’ .. The city has surely molded & added its touch 2 ma personality. :P … And ever since I stepped in 2 d ‘TEENAGE PHASE ’ of lyf , I had made 1 thing very clear →‘‘ NO College OUT OF MUMBAI ” .. After studying hard during my junior college years,Leaving Mumbai was never given a Thought … But,der was something else written in my destiny.

     I Got Admission  in Pune n all those yrs of thinkin dat I won’t step out of Mumbai wer all gone in a second :( … So decided 2 move 2 pune - To explore Oxford of d east,wid Hopes & Xcitment abt the happening place called PUNE .. And so der it was ,‘‘I bcame A ‘PUNEKAR’ frm A ‘MUMBAIKAR’. ”

     The initial days in Pune were total haze (now if I look back!) .. Anyway, d 1st thing i shud tel abt pune is d climate .. Yeah,d climate is cool n not @ all humid lyk mumbai .. But then..my problems started..with d new city soon….!!!

     The Rickshaws in Pune r another story altogether & just as sum1 has written on d ‘Dabbawalas in Mumbai’ (In praise) , I wud definitely want 2 write on d ‘Rickshaw-walas in Pune’ (offcourse with all d hatred I can utter).

     The 2 Wheeler Funda :- Being a Mumbaikar, der was never a need 2 learn d 2-wheeler, thanks 2 d Wonderful Public Transport System in Mumbai, but What 2 do, Pune is different frm Mumbai na! ’ :P here d scene was totally diff .. Every 2nd person byond d age of 18 was on 2-wheeler .. Every 2nd driver resembled a terrorist wid der faces covered byond recognition, wid only their eyes exposed (dat 2 covered wid sunglasses).

     Another difficult aspect in Pune was gettin used 2 d “ Shuddha Marathi ” here .. I was quite familiar wid Marathi but here I was left speechless at der pure language .. I kept fumbling 4 words n den either shifted 2 English or Hindi.

     The 3rd n d most difficult thing of Pune was d mentality of d people here, Wherever I went, d only sentence I heard was ‘U must understand dat Pune is different frm Mumbai’, LOL!!!

     Moving On,The city was lyk a quiet place wid only limited options 2 hangout and enjoy …
Three roads are the heart and soul of this city(Considered :P)
1- MG Road
2- FC Road
3- JM Road…

     But lemme tell .. u can find such places e1 in mumbai suburbs .. The shops shutter goes down as early as 8:45 or 9 pm. :( [Too Early,Isn't It ??? xD]

Getting Used to :

     Getting used 2 all dis things, it’s nw almost been more dan 3 years since I left Mumbai. I do keep visiting Mumbai regularly & wen I do, d regular shopping places r yet visited e1 2 buy d smallest of small things whch u wud get e1 in Pune, but I guess, it’s juz a matter of gettin used 2 a city.

     I got a bike .. so dat i dont need 2 face d “ KINGS ”(Auto Drivers :P)

     The climate is very vel suited 2 me…I enjoy d winter here whch I was unable 2 do in mumbai coz of humidity(unlucky fellas)…The chilling nyts n roaming on bike … u vil b smoking widout a cigarette…Its AWESOME!!!

     Finally, I stopped grunting on things whch i don’t find done in a mumbai way :P 

     After facin many such small problems ,i finally got accustomed to pune’s life style .. Life is so slow here .. I Get up late..Sleep late..Eat late..Work late..Break signals :P :D

     Pune!!! Inspite of all its differences, has a lot dat I won’t get in Mumbai .. Every city has its Ups & Downs n though I hav been a Punekar 4 d last 3 years, I myt yet b very partial 2 Mumbai, but dis city n its lyfstyle has surely affected me and my life .. It is truly said that “ Home is where the heart is “ & Pune seems like a home now..!!!

OLD TRAFFORD - THE MECCA OF FOOTBALL 

     A Weekend … What comes to ur mind wen u think of a weekend ??? .. Well May be .. Movies,Music,Parties,Shopping etc etc … In my case, Itz Totally different .. For Me,Weekend is Nothing but the Football,And When I Think of football it has to be MANCHESTER UNITED .. After a Hectic Long Week,i wait for a weekend just to see my favorite team play ,i.e MANCHESTER UNITED !!! .. Itz kinda a Date :P,Yes it may sound weird,but thats a fact .. MUFC - One Love !!! 

 I manipulate anything and everything — FAMILY,FRIENDS,STUDIES,WORK — to be in front of the television,To watch the Devils Play . :)

     I have been following MANCHESTER UNITED Week In Week Out for almost 7-8 Years now ... Just as each one of you, ever since I started following United religiously, I had a dream of visiting “ Old Trafford – The Theatre Of Dreams ” at least once in my lifetime.

     All my life the Red Dream is a painted picture in my head .. Old Trafford , 70000 odd Fans, Roar of Relief , A huge scream of relief,Chanting my lungs out ,Rattling the stadiums super structure etc etc etc ...

 “ The very thought of me living my dream one day gives me GOOSEBUMPS .” 

     As an Indian far away from Old Trafford ,, Attending United matches isn’t exactly an option .. :(

         I have watched most of the United games alone in my living room, or in some random cafes packed with people who either hate United, or who “kind of” support United, simply sharing in the cocktail of nerves, excitement, anticipation and sheer impatience … but whatever it is, is worth treasuring in itself .. And Deep down in my heart,i always think ,wish I was at OLD TRAFFORD ryt now .

     Couple of Years Back ,I was introduced to MANCHESTER UNITED FAN CLUB - MUMBAI , and trust me,It is the Best thing ever happened to me … It is the closest thing a UTD Fan here cud ever get … A surreal Stadium Experience with Chanting,Screaming and what not ... And Now a dayz,as I am not in Mumbai ,I always look forward with the newly formed MANCHESTER UNITED FAN CLUB - PUNE .. Well,Watching MAN UTD with hundreds of fans sounds Awesome ryt ? n now Imagine,How wud it feel to watch it Live,Along with another 70,000 odd fans at OLD TRAFFORD ...!!!


     My one wish in life is visitng Old Trafford on my own terms and catching a match LIVE! possibly a UEFACL match and noy o boy! what an experience that wud be! To be with the most fanatic 75000 people on the planet..maaan..am already feeling the Thrill.! I know for sure of the 5% of the world's population who are Manchester United fans..i wud be right there among the top! They are life to me!

    The Image to d Right ... Well , Just One Word “ AWE-FUCKIN-LEGEN-WAIT-FOR-IT-DARY-SOME !!! ” ... I Know,one day i wud b der along wid another 70000  odd United Fans and Hence wud b living my Dream.

Lonavla - A Night Out !

Lonavla --> The Land Of Picknickers !!!
           An Exciting NightOut which Almost Turned into a Nightmare ...!!!

   Lonavla has been 1 of my bestest picnic spots. Havin a boys NIGHT OUT, got d bikes and group of carefree friends, d perfect package 2 head 2 Lonavla.

   I hav been 2 Lonavla many tyms, but best part of day & my favorite one would b @ around 2 in the night...Amazing feeling.! For those of u who raised an eyebrow lookin @ d time, I wud say u actually need 2 experience it 2 knw d feeling. And Yes, I can proudly say dat I hav got d privilege 2 xperience it at more dan one time .

   Normally, I do not lyk 2 plan dis outings, it has 2 b an extempore. And all of a sudden v decided a nyt out :)

   Our trip starts @ around 10 in the night, frm Pune … And,den the Fun Begins !!! .. v all head 2 lonavla with full of xcitement … Heavy Rain,Cold Weather and Fog ,Ahhh and finally after all d leg pulling n dangerous driving (@Nikhil .. Yes,Seating Ulta was Dangerous :P) v reach our destination!!! … Shivering at itz Best … I'm still feeling d thrill :P

   After Reaching d Top,v wer all lyk Hooohhh haahhhh … ' Thandi ' .. Then,v had some Pakodas,which 2 b honest were Pretty good and Garama Garam Chai :) …. We waited 4 around one one n half hours for d ball of fire 2 rise n later had a great laugh on our foolishness.

   And when v wer finally heading back, I came 2 know dat the Tyre is Punctured … Around 3 in d night,v got no option rather than 2 ride it down wid flat tyre .. And Thanks 2 Pranay,who drove those 5 Kms wid Flat Tyre,which was practically Impossible 4 me ..

   An amazing place if u hav just a gang of boys and Yes, you can also visit Lonavla during d day tym n c all d points.

Post Script :- After a very Exciting Night Out,1 of ma Friend 'Onkar Wani' Attended d Lectures with same xcitement as v had it last night :P :D LOL

   When ur daily lives r super active & at tyms e1 stressful, I think gifting urself a weekend getaway can add a lot of punch.
 

   Me and my F.R.I.E.N.D.S. wer keen dat dis tym it vil be a new place after d regulars lyk Mahableshwar, Matheran, Lonavala, Khandala or Pune .….... So LAVASA it was. :)

  

  We Left Pune Early Morning n Driving 2 Lavasa frm Pune is a pleasure, especially @ dis time. The roads r xcellent  n scenic.Finally, you reach d gateway of Lavasa where in you are required to give basic information a nd there is no entry fee.It was lytly drizzling as v arrived at the gates of Lavasa, but d sun came out shortly after n d steam rising frm d roads made 4 an interesting picture ..   

   

   

   As soon as u enter d gates of Lavasa,ur eyes will stuck wid d view of Helipad … Yes!!! Helipad for those Rich who cannot afford to drive a Merc or a Prada .. No Time Mahn .. for even heavens .. Netas and Power Lists of India.. 'Class' Act :P

 

 

Well,After Reading d above lines,u might have thought it was a wonderful day for us .. but it wasnt … Couple of problems occurred as soon as we entered Lavasa .. Firstly,It was d Camera Mishap :P .. As soon as v wer @Lavasa,v guyz cudnt wait 2 take photographs,so v opt for a digital camera which belonged 2 one of my friend,but d sad part was as soon as v took d camera out of d pouch,v all wer stuck in a shocked mode ... coz,The Display Of Camera was Broken :( And Then,v met wid a small Accident .. Thank God,All were SAFE ..LOL!!! Talking About Accident,Apart from d above mentioned accident ,v had another LOL'n Moment …   As GFN knows,Omi did it Again .. He Crashed d Standby 'Tam Tam' which he is pretty good at it .. ROFL!

 

   A word of caution – dre r many U-Turns slanting upward & u may find big sized vehicle finding it difficult to maintain d left track while descending. So, it is advisable not 2 Ape Michael Schumacher(Btw,I am Ferrari FAN) while driving.

   Finally , Apart from all d negatives,v really had a fun filled day …. Had Snacks,Took 'some' Photographs,Saw some Awesome    scenes etc etc … !!!       

    

  In Short,it was grt day for all of us n what now remains r SWEET MEMORIES!!!

       

 

I Love Real Madrid .. LOL,I'm just Kidding!

     Yup!!! They may b d Galacticos, dey wer blessed wid d services of a Genius named ZIZOU , dey hav d grand history of a footballing marvel, dey had all d players I love - but alas, I can't love a team like Real Madrid for one specific reason ... They are REAL MADRID …!!!

     Srsly, wat is it abt Real Madrid? EVERYONE hates 'em...!!!

         The only thing I can’t seem 2 agree on is who should I hate d most - Jose Mourinho 4 his referee-baiting, excuse-making arrogance? Or Cristiano Ronaldo 4 being Cristiano Ronaldo?

     The hate 4 RMad comes frm d way dey approach football.
Football shud b blood, sweat n tears, at least frm d romantic point of view. It is abt fighting for each other n running ur lungs out. It is abt hard work n getting d loan 4 it. A metaphor of life, dat at least in my eyes made it so popular (yes, pathetic). It's why teams lyk Getafe,Racing,Blackpool, Newcastle have Fans. No glamour or 

titles at d end of d road. Just another avoided or hit relegation.

       I remember d days when RMad had Zidane, Ronaldo (The Real One), Beckham, Carlos,Figo,Raul....etc.
They did terrific no doubt as dey had such a "name-built" team so 2 say, but dey really did not exceed ne expectations .. dey did not win as much as anyone really expected 'em too. I'm not saying dey never won, i'm just saying d "Dream-Team" never met d bar it had set.

     1 more main reason ,I don't like Real Madrid is bcoz dey literally 'BUY' a team. They buy great players n never use dem again (Van der Vaart, Robben, Sneijder), all Top-Players on der clubs rytt now, but dey were not good enough for RMad it seemed. 

Royston Drenthe I blive is a prime example of that … Hunterlaar as well.

     Nuthin of wat Real Madrid stands for, at least for me. Real Madrid stands for buying d best players instead of educating 'em. It stands for spending money of d city of Madrid n d state of Spain instead of der own (financial background has been very suspicious for at least 20 years now).
Thats why I don't like Real Madrid. Call it envy, for me this club just is not what football should be.

     The TWO FOREMOST REASONS 2 HATE 'em Right now(Offcourse 4 me) is Definately :

  1-Jose Mourinho →He deserves it! As a Man Utd Fan I hate him for that celebration wen he ran all over d OT pitch + sum gestures to d utd fans after a porto equalizer dat put utd out of UCL in 04..

  2-Cristiano Ronaldo → Don't get me wrong, he is an awesome football player, although (maybe because) his useless stepover actions on the outer wing. Speed, shooting technique, ball control, striking, crossing, display of the court, everything fantastic.
But as a person, he just seems like a cock (the bird offcourse) dancing around trying to hide his doubts (whatever they are) behind a fassade of glamour,Which is childish. 

     P.S. :- I know many of you wont agree above lines,but thats what I feel ...so sorry if some1 gets offended or feels bad ..specially for d CR Remarks

     I Hope Real Madrid someday gives us a Fresh Non Stolen Product         #FingersCrossed

Purandar - A Sweet Small Trek!!!

{ TREKing .... DRIVing .... SIGHTSEEing .... WALKing .... BOATing .... SLIPing ... CLIMBing .... EATing :) ..............And Now Everything is PAINing :-( } 

   Above was my Facebook Status later that day :P ... so u can imagine how much fun it was :D

  It was Almost 2 years we hadnt planned a trek,so der it was dis tym ... A TREK to PURANDAR ...!!!

 

  The original plan was for a trek to Purandar fort with Ashutosh,Onkar,Sujit and Vishal. At the end, that too after last minute threats, we were a group of three guys... Thanks 2 my beloved Friend Abhijit,who refused 2 give us his bike and dat 2 at the 11^th hour :( … And hence,v all were Tongue Stuck :P … Then,v wer planning different different plans,n as usual the “The Two Nautanki's of our group a.k.a. Ashu n Omi,wer rejecting 'em … Finally,after failure from convincing,Me,Sujit and Vishal decided 2 move on And nothing stop us having fun thereafter … 

                                  The Journey Begins!!!

  

    Though it was well past the monsoon, d   weather was very pleasant 4 d short climb. We started at 6 in d morning from Pune & at around 8 in d morning, when v started d climb, the top of d hill was covered in mist … what a view it was,Ahh!!!

WE stick on 2 d rocky sections n keep following d trail. Wid d rain causing a continuos cascade of water on d trail, it was pretty slippery @times, but nonetheless it was amazing fun. At d end,my clothes wer a slushy mess! At 1 point, d trail goes through a thick maze of shrubs, which was pretty cool.

On our way back, wen v reached d wall, we wer surprised 2 c dozens of people starting the trek. There wer few organised groups, few individuals & e1 a family wid a small boy. It is really fascinating 2 c dis interest in trekking . V spent a total of arnd 4 hrs on dis trip n it was worth every minute of it. While Returning from Purandar,v opt for a different route and had d awesome experience of Boating in d mid way 2 pune :P
 

              If u hav never been on a trek b4, this is a good place for dat “FIRST” trek.

The RED'elicious Evening @Manchester United Cafe !!!

          Awesome Place - Great Atmosphere - Amazing Crowd ...!!!

The moment I heard der was a Manchester United Cafe in Mumbai, I knew I had 2 b dere. So I was der dis sunday, 4 d title deciding clash against Chelsea.

  I reached d place juz b4 kickoff but was put off by a long line outside d cafe.But gladly d line cleared off in a huff. Dey wer chargin a cover charge of 750 for d nite ... This was all d background part.

  Just as v entered, I was taken back by ppl singing Glory Glory Manchester United in all its full glory. The place was crowded. There was hardly ne place 2 stand let alone sit. But d atmosphere more dan made up 4 it. 

  The place has a huge 20' projected screen on 1 side n another smaller 1 on d other side. There were also quite a few LCD's streaming d match so dat u cudn't miss ne of d action.

  The place was really overcrowded dat day bcoz of d match but I've heard its peaceful n cosy on other days. The cafe had a huge crowd in front but waiters wer pretty good n dey did handle d crowd really well.

  Only if d cafe had a lil' more space it wud hav been e1 better. But it didn't matter. The place was juz 2 good. And when d goal was scored d whole place erupted. There was singing, cheering and wat not. Some stupid guy e1 sprayed drinks all over d place.

  In d end ,I realised I had been standin 4 almost 2 hrs but it didn't matter. It was just pure fun watchin ur favorite team along wid 150 other crazy people.

  Crazy Night n d Chants of Glory Glory MAN UTD r still Fresh in me : ) ...
